September 18, 2011

The "Poi Loen Sip Et Festival" or Tai Yai's End of Buddist Lent is a tradition that the Torism Authority of Thaialnd (TAT) has selected in its project "12 Months, 7 Stars and 9 Suns Amazing Thailand That Must Be Experienced" that is held every year in the Mae Hong Son municipality during the 13th day of the waxing moon of the 11th lunar month till the 8th day of the waning moon of the 12th lunar month. this follows the belief of the Thai Yai hill tribe who has continuously conducted this event for generations. Before Ok Phansa or the End of Buddhist Lent, there is the Chong Para procession. On the 15th day of the waxing moon of the 11th lunar month, the local people will conduct Tak Bat Thewo at Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu. At dawn, the monks, novices, and laypeople will stand on both sides of the way for alms making. For further information.
